About the Event
Come explore Mars on Earth! Bisti Badlands, inclusive of the Ash-Shi-Sle-Pah area is one of the American Southwest's most iconic places to visit. We have arranged this specific tour to visit and capture several unique photo locations at Sunrise, Sunset, and the dark skies of the Milky Way. Post-Processing Instruction will be provided to help you fully realize your photographic vision.
We will be visiting the truly unique territories within the Badlands: Bisti Wings, Valley of Dreams, Giant Hoodoos, Rock Gardens, and Cracked Eggs.
What is included:
- Full tour transportation: Round trip from Albuquerque departing noon on Friday, and return Sunday, around noon.
- One sunset dinner and one sunrise breakfast will be provided along with light snacks & water.
- Learn in-field shooting techniques: Focus stacking, shooting for composition and in anticipation of limiting post processing hurdles, dark sky in-camera shooting techniques, exposure triangle & bracketing.
We will be departing from/returning to Albuquerque, with overnight stays in Farmington, at the Courtyard Marriott.
*Alternate option of camping on-site within the BLM area of Bisti Badlands.
*All hotel accommodation and any additional meals are NOT included.
Any photography skill is welcome. There is no need to be an advanced photographer, we usually have a good mix of mostly intermediate photographers, a few advanced and a few beginners. You do not need fancy photography gear to shoot at the Badlands, if you have a camera capable of shooting in manual mode, a tripod (required for low light/dark sky shooting), and a wide angle lens, you're good. This is also an opportunity to rent gear if you do not own and/or are trying out newer equipment.
*Participants must be physically capable of hiking 3-5 miles per day, with small elevation changes. Proper hiking clothes, shoes, and water bottles are required.
